THE OMM STORY
APRIL 25th 2004 DAY Three
8 O'Clock
Breakfast
We walked over to the Ivy Rose for a Buffet Breakfast and some conversation. Between bits of food we talked about what we would be doing in the future, what we did all weekend, and even arranged that Karen and Maggie would have an October Mini Meet in Coldwater and that Gayle would hold the Spring Mini Meet in IL. Our Little Miss Sunshine who had been serving in the back room, saw us and came out to say hi. She was all smiles and laughter. What a delightful person. A more silent walk was made back to the hotel to say our goodbyes.
A nice man in the hotel lobby was recruited to take a group picture of us. Only Betty and Donna were not there, as they had not stayed over night at the hotel.
Evelyn was taking the Canadian route back to Buffalo, so she drove Marion and Molly back to London. Gayle headed off on her own for a long 10 hour drive home to IL. Barb and Pat headed off for a short 45 minutes drive home to MI. Karen would still have to go pick up her partents before a 2 and a half hour drive home in MI
By 10:30 Maggie was hugging Karen good bye and the weekend was over.
Thank you all for the wonderful time and company.
Thank you all for the teachings and for wanting to learn.
Thank you all ..... for being YOU!
APRIL 23RD 2004 DAY ONE
Maggie and Joe went to the train station to pick up Marion and Molli at 11:30, the train as usual was 25 minutes late. Joe was dropped off to pick up the Van he would need to transport all of Maggie's equipment to the hotel, and the Gals arrived at 12:30 at the Royal Marquis where they found Barb and Pat checking in. Gayle was in the dinning room waiting for them to join her for lunch. We all decided to join her and Evelyn join us to.
Joe arrived with all the goodies and after 7 trips down to the meeting room with the luggage cart.... the set up began. Karen arrived on the heels of Betty and Donna at 3:45 and the Mini Meet began.
4 O'Clock PM
Hugs and introductions were exchanged and soon we all were friends (PALs). Goodie Bags were handed out and and then 8 of us piled into Karen's van, while Betty and Donna went on ahead to the restaraunt to save a table. The place we went to is Karen's favorite .. Pat & Hank's Fish and Chips. Karen's mom, dad, aunt and Maggie's mom joined us for our meal.
After the meal we headed out to Micheal's where we had 40% off coupons to use and then we headed back to the Hotel to start our 1st Make and Take.
Swap Exchanges were done first and boy did the gals out do themselves, post it note covers, tooth pick holders, note covers, note cards, angels, Shrek candy, Cat pin, and a pretzel butterfly, leather bags and Cds. Everyone of them was beautiful.

MAKE AND TAKE 1 BY BARB - 3D FLOWERS
Barb did a great job in showing us how to use 15 punches of a 5 petal flower (LG) to make 3 - 3D flowers. We cut slits, cut out petals, cut out circles and even curled one. After assembling these flowers we arranged them onto a tag and added our own individual embellishments.
9 O'Clock PM
This was the only make and take on the schedule but aother templates was brought out if anyone wanted to work on an extra goodies.. this one was taken off the net but was designed by our own Gayle. It was an Aroma Therapy Box.. which Maggie thought would make a good tray for our snacks for the next day. Everyone was tired and headed off to their rooms. Maggie stayed in the meeting room and decided to work on the template a bit on her computer to see if she could print them out for the gals to cut out the next day.. instead of have to trace then on just card stock. She made 5 colours of them.. and printed off 2 of each. Arriving back at her room, she found Karen at her NOTEBOOK (see Gayle I got it right) wondering what to do for her swap item. She had not exchange them with us earlier.. as she had not gotten one ready in time. Finally an idea came to her and we hit the bed with the lights out at 1:30 pm
APRIL 24th 2004 DAY ONE
By 7:30 am the 6 of us were in the dinning room having a delicious breakfast and by 9 am we were in the Meeting room ready to start a long day of crafting.
9 O'Clock
Of course even though there is a schedule.. it is never followed.... Our 1st make and take was put off.. while we made our dishes for our snacks and filled them up.
10 O'Clock
Make and Take 2 by Evelyn Pop Up Card
Evelyn presented us with a pattern and cardstock to make a 1/4 pop up card. they were shades of that beautiful christmas blue and the in the centre of the card we had a christmas tree poping out. Gold stars embelished the inside of the card. Thanks are giving to Elaine S for showing Evelyn how to do this.
Make and Take 3 by Evelyn Moving Scarecrow
This also was a 1/4 card, but with a scarecrow on the front with moving arms. We cut out all the peices and assembled them using very tiny gold brads. I just love the way the scarecrow takes off his hat and puts it back on when his arm moves.
A floppy disk was presented to us by Evelyn with all the template and instructions we needed to do this to cards. Thank you Evelyn for the great ideas.
11 O'Clock
Make and Take 4 by Betty Iris Folding
Most of us had not done this before so it was exciting to learn something new. Betty handed out pages of patterns for use to at a later date.. but today we were all doing the triangle. With strips of tissue paper we measured, folded, cut and glued untill our triangle was filled. They were mounted on a folded cardstock to make a card and we were finished. Great job Betty!
Lunch Time
We all headed up to the dinning room for lunch and a break from the crafting. But soon it was time to go back down stairs.
1:30 PM
Demo by Gayle in Photo Impact
Gayle set up her Notebook and we all gathered around her to see how to put together a scrapbook page on the computer. She added a background, some ribbon strips, a photo, frame and a tag for the journaling. This was really interesting.. sure helped me!
2:30 PM
Make and Take 5 by Karen Glass Lamps
Karen handed out Glass Blocks and a square of rough stuff, our first job was to sand off the flecks of white paint that were on the edges of the blocks. While we were doing this, we went up to Karen's computer one by one to pick out the graphic we wanted to use and Karen printed them out for us. After they were cleaned and pictures printed, we inserted the string of 20 lights, into a hole that Karen's DH Bob had drilled into the backs for us, and then taped down the cord. The graphics were printed on sticker paper and we then applied to the front and back of the glass block. Karen demonstrated how to put the 2" wire ribbon around the block and how to make a bow for the top. We lined up all the finished lights and took pictures. These are just beautiful! What a way to make a nice gift for any holiday or occasion. These also make great night lights.
4 O'Clock
Time to go Shopping ! ! !
We headed off to a place near my house called The Scrap Yard. Eleanor greeted us at the door and soon we were seated around her demonstration table being shown how to to wet embossing, water pencil painting and the use of Die Cutouts for template with chalk. After our purchases there.. we headed off to The Stamp Pad and Paper Garden but upon arrival found that they had closed early.. what a disappointment. We headed back to the hotel and then over to a small restaraunt called the Ive Rose where we enjoyed a small supper buffet. Our waitress was Little Miss Sunshine and made our meal quite enjoyable. .......... OH ! OH ! look at the time.... time to get back for another Make and Take.
8 O'Clock
Make and Take 6 by Maggie Layering
This make and take was suppose to be held in the morning.. but doing the snack trays had put us behind.. so it was rescheduled for now. Maggie told everyone that layering could not really be taught cause it was a matter of each persons creativity. But she handed out a paper with the formula that she uses when putting together a layered Card.
Base Card, Textured Layer, Contrast Layer, Main Element, Fiber
Maggie explained what each meant to her, then brought out all of her supplies and told everyone to go at it. The cards were all so different, with each person expressing themself in the card. Great job everyone!
9 O'Clock
Make and Take 7 by Maggie Teabag Folding
This was an extra make and take because Betty and Donna had never done this before and had asked for it to be shown. 9 teabag squares were handed out to each person.. and they went and picked out a sheet of card stock of their choise to make a card with. Maggie show how to make the card on the back to get a perfect fold, and then showed how to fold the square into a kite fold and half kite fold. How to arrange them on the card to produce a design was shown. Once again.. the card made were excellent!
10 O'Clock
Finishing up unfinished make and takes, clean up our spots, packing up our gifts and goodies took up the next half hour. Maggie's DH Joe showed up and started to haul her equipment out to the van to transport home. By the time Maggie's stuff was gone and Karen's stuff was packed and ready to load the next morning in was midnight and time to head for our rooms.
