ASTTO MOUSE TRAP 500 GRADE A EGG CHALLENGE

Looking for an exciting challenge to start the new year off right? Do you want to turn your students on to math, science, design, materials and technology? Then why not enter the:


ASTTO MOUSE TRAP 500 GRADE A EGG CHALLENGE
to be held at the DTTO "How To" Conference
in Toronto, March 28, 1998

Sponsored by the Applied Science and Technology Teachers of Ontario, ASTTO, this challenge is open to all students from grades 3 to 10:

Level one: grades 1-3
Level two: grades 4-6
Level three: grades 7-8
Level four: grades 9-10

The Challenge: A mouse trap (supplied) must be used to carry two fresh grade A eggs with no loss or damage to the eggs. The maximim distance travelled will be measured. The team with the greatest distance travelled will be the most sucessful (the winner).
Each team will consist of five students, a sponsoring teacher, an industrial sponsor and an engineer/ technician volunteer.


Students will also be required to submit a Design Portfolio as part of the competition. The portfolio is an engineering report which will describe the design and construction of the MOUSE TRAP VEHICLE. Further details of information required to be entered into the portfolio will be provided at the address listed below.

The cost to participate is twenty dollars ($10.00). For this money you will receive; your ASTTO Mouse Trap and a list of all rules and details concerning the event.

The deadline for registration is February 15, 1998
