Design and Technology Part I
This course is an introduction to the teaching of Design and Technology, with emphasis on integration of Technology,
Science and Mathematics in the K-6 curriculum. The major objective is to provide experience with the design process and
problemsolving in a technological context, using activities which will support the new S&T programme. Curriculum writing
and team technology challenges will be an integral part of this course. There is a $50 materials charge for the course.
Design and Technology Part II
The emphasis of this course will focus on extending participants' understanding of design processes in K-9 classrooms.
Through the use of Computers , cybernetics and robotics, students will experience activities and projects that focus on
the integration of Technology, Science and Mathematics. Assignments will emphasize program development, marketing,
laboratory management, and safety. There is a $50 materials charge for the course.
Design and Technology Specialist's
This course will focus on extending the participants' understanding of the design processes in K-10 classrooms.
Emphasis will be placed on the S&T document as well as the new Grade 9 and 10 programmes. Through the use of Computers,
cybernetics and robotics, students will experience activities and projects that focus on the integration of Technology,
Science and Mathematics. Assignments will emphasize program development, marketing, laboratory management, and safety.
Graduates of this section will be prepared to skillfully and safely teach Science and Technology in fully funtioning
shop facilities. There is a $50 materials charge for the course.
