The Expanded Earth Book Report

In this work, a seasoned craftsman applies his attention to mechanical detail to the field of geological research. As one whose profession is based on the look of things, the author finds that the theory of Earth expansion rationalizes the look of today's planet with a logic others lack. The expansion theory itself is not new, but without the support of solid empirical evidence, the idea has lain dormant. Until now.
With a craftsman's truth and, reputedly, the first live model of its kind, the author puts expansion to the test of physical fact. In a presentation accessible to the lay person while of interest to the science-minded, he argues that, in essence, we look today at an exploded view of a smaller planet's crust, its features spread apart and precisely placed by expansion. The compelling evidence questions the theory of continental drift and accepted modes of thought on how our planet has taken shape.

Since past attempts at creating expansion models have been unsuccessful, the craftsman has paid particular attention to ensuring legitimate evidence with an unmanipulated model. The book details its construction and demonstration, fully documented with illustrations and coloured photographs throughout the book and in a lavish appendix. The book includes a history of the expansion theory, its geo-mechanics and its consequences. The author is especially successful in retraining the eye to recognize the possibilities of expansion, an education that culminates in a chapter on expansion cartography.
The author takes time presenting his model, but it's somehow fitting. The book seems a microcosm of expansion, the primary evidence at its core and accessory discussions emanating from that. It's a small book that packs a wallop, a premiere of research with thoughtful discussion that should challenge many readers' knowledge about the planet's development. Benchmark Publishing & Design, 1996, ISBN 1-895305-39-X, 80 pages, indexed, with full-colour, fold-out appendix, softcover.
