What's Been Happening at Windsor-Roseland Rotary New Project Off to a Good Start January 2005 One month after launching our newest community service project, WRR’S Knitting, the needles are clicking away at a steady pace! The goal of the project is to involve many members of our club in mobilizing Seniors in our community to knit Warming Caps for our newest citizens born in the Maternal and Infant Department at Windsor Regional Hospital. We feel that this is an excellent way to reach out to our senior citizens who are living in their own homes or apartments as well as those who are living in more communal, assisted living settings. It is a fun way for us to interact with people and give them an opportunity to be involved in the good work of Rotary. In addition, it will reinforce the positive feelings they receive when others appreciate their skills and when they realize that they are making a meaningful contribution to others! We have received hats from friends and family recruited by Jay Armeland, Paula Talbot and Erin Mammarella. Thanks for your efforts on behalf of the project! Gisele Sullens and Marie Merschback have learned to knit and Betty is reconnecting with her "Martha Stewart” side and has a hat in the works! We have well over three hundred hats so far! We supply the pattern, a sample warming cap. We give lessons and provide the materials, if required! What a Deal! How can you resist??? If you want to get involved, email Sheila Blair Mosley. Click here for the pattern. |
