Rotary Club of Windsor Roseland Peace Project
(Draft)
Statement of Purpose

Rational:

A Statement of Purpose has been developed with the involvement of members of the Rotary Club of Windsor Roseland, the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board and the Greater Essex County District School Board. The intention of this document is to provide all Elementary Schools and School Communities in Windsor and Essex County with a solid framework in which to better understand the purpose of attaining the ‘Rotary Peace School Designation".

Policy Statement:

Vision:

A ‘Peace School’ is a school that encourages, fosters and promotes a harmonious, safe, caring and welcoming environment and celebrates diversity.

Duty:

A Rotary ‘Peace School’ will clearly and constantly demonstrate to all its unwavering commitment to the process of peace. This can be measured by the school’s pledge to end violence in all forms, promote peace, and demonstrate a continuous respect for the life and the dignity of others. A ‘Peace School’ will also have consistently demonstrated its ability to work harmoniously with people, to effectively achieve this privilege.

Values:

The values that characterize the behaviour of a ‘Peace School’ include:

Peacefulness Understanding Goodwill Fairness Conscientiousness
Tolerance Acceptance Integrity Mutual Trust Respectful
Progression Teamwork Ethical Honesty Compassion
Open-Mindedness Commitment

The Rotary ‘Peace School’ will also adhere to the Rotary Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do.

1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
