President-nominee
Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar of the Rotary Club of
Göteborg, Sweden, formally accepted his nomination
to the 2005-06 term. "You have elected me,
and I'm overwhelmed and thrilled. It's going
to be fun to be president of this organization." Like
Estess, Stenhammar said he will concentrate on water projects
during his year in office and emphasized the
importance of following through
with other Rotary programs, especially in the areas of literacy
and education. Stenhammar also assured Rotarians that working
with other organizations, such as UNICEF and the World Health
Organization, would not jeopardize Rotary's identity
but strengthen it.
