Governor
Elect Jim Ives has asked me to provide you with information
concerning all of the awards and recognitions, which you are
eligible to apply for during your year as club president.
District

Dick Hedke Award is given to the clubs with the best
overall balance of service in all four avenues. There were
also
individual club winners in each of the four avenues. Livonia
and Windsor-Roseland Rotary Clubs are last year's winners.
The
application was in your PETS training manual and is posted
on the district website.
This is due to District Governor Elect James Ives by
May 1, 2005. Windsor
Roseland Rotary Club has earned this award for 03-04.
2.
The
Hugh Archer Award is given to the club with the best
new service
project each year. Monroe Rotary Club was last year's winner.
The
application was in your PETS training manual and is posted
on the district website. This is also due to DGE James Ives by
May 1, 2005.
Adrian
AM Rotary Club has earned this award for 03-04
3.
The
Frank Devlyn Award is given to the club with the most
exemplary on-going public relations effort in the district.
Windsor St. Clair Rotary Club was last year's winner. The
application was in your PETS training manual and is posted
on the district website.
Again, this is due to DGE James Ives by April 2, 2004.
Taylor
Rotary Club has earned this award for 03-04
4.Celebrate
Rotary, 2004-2005 Presidential Citation. This award is presented upon certification
that your club met the accomplishments, which you set for your
club at the official governor's visit. The criteria and deadlines form, and the certification form
were in your PETS training manual and are available on the district
website and the Rotary International website (rotary.org). The certification form must be sent to Governor Roberto Sanchez
no later than April 1, 2005 as he must sign it and have it in
the hands of Rotary International no later than April 15, 2005
for your club to qualify.
5.
Rotary Award for World Understanding and Peace presented
to a non-Rotarian or an organization for outstanding achievement
consistent with the ideals and objectives of Rotary International.
This award carries with it a grant of US $100,000.00 from
the Rotary Foundation to be used to support a project of the
recipientŐs choice.Application
may be made by any active Rotarian and must be received no
later than November 1, 2005 to be considered.
The
winner will be presented at the Rotary International Convention
in Osaka, Japan June 1-4, 2003.

Four
Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians.
2004-2005 Club Presidents may only apply for the award.
You are allowed to apply for one person in your club who has
consistently demonstrated support of the Object of Rotary
through participation in service activities in each of the
Four Avenues. The application is available on both the district
and RI Websites. It
must be completed and signed by the club president and be
in the hands of Rotary International no later than February
14, 2005. This
is a fairly new award and few people are aware of it, don't
miss this opportunity to recognize someone in your club who
is "always there" when needed.
7.
Rotary
International Significant Achievement Award This award
is presented by RI for the best club projects in the world.
Only one application may be submitted by each Rotary
District. The application is available on the RI
and District websites.
It must be in the hands of District Governor Elect
Jim Ives no later than February 15, 2005 as he must select
the one best project to submit to RI and have it in their
hands no later than March 14, 2005.
8.
Rotary
International Public Relations Award This award is presented
by Rotary International to the Rotary Clubs that have generated
increased awareness and understanding of Rotary through outstanding
media coverage and public relations efforts. Each Rotary District
may submit only one application. The application is available
on the RI and District websites. It
must be in the hands of District Governor Elect Jim Ives no
later than April 15, 2005 as he must select the one best club
to submit to RI and have it in their hands no later than May
15, 2005.

CLUB SERVICE AWARDS
This
year, for the second time, we will be presenting awards
to individual clubs in several areas of Club Service.
These will include the following:
Attendance
–
The club receiving the highest percentage of attendance
this year.
Membership
–
the club with the greatest net gain in membership and the
club with the greatest percentage increase in membership.
Rotary
Information for Prospective Members –
Club with the most effective Rotary Information program
for prospective members.
Rotary
Information for New Members –
Club with the most effective Rotary Information program
for new members.
On-Going
Rotary Information for Club Members – Club with
the most effective program of Rotary Information throughout
the year, such as: “Rotary Minute”, “Rotary
Trivia” and other ideas.
Bulletin
–
The club with the best bulletin relating to content, graphics,
etc.
Website
–
The club with the best and most informative website.
Fund
Raiser –
The club with the most creative method of raising funds.
Social
Event –
The club with the most innovative club social event.
If
you wish to apply for one or more of these awards for your
club send a letter stating that you wish to apply for the
that district club service award, signed by your
club president and secretary. Along with the letter send documentation
and descriptions of why you feel your club deserves this
award. Send
a separate documentation for each award you wish your club
to apply for. No club will receive more than one award
so that we may have as many recipients as possible. Awards will be presented at the District
Conference at the HILTON HOTEL AT CICINNATI.

be considered all applications must be received no later
than 4-1-05
Again
this year the Governor will be presenting the COG Awards
to outstanding Rotarians in the district.
These are available for anyone who has not won this
award in a previous year (the list is in the district directory).
The only other people not eligible are past, present,
and future (nominated) District Governors.
Clubs may submit names and reasons you feel the Rotarian
deserves the award directly to Governor Elect Jim Ives.
They must be received no later than April 1, 2005.
The awards will be presented at the District Conference at the HILTON HOTEL AT CINCINNATI.

YOUR CLUB AND MEMBERS DESERVE. THIS IS YOUR ONE CHANCE TO RECOGNIZE YOUR

COMMUNITY AND IN THE WORLD OF ROTARY.
