MacTCP

MacTCP is an older Transfer Control Protocol (TCP) management control panel supported prior to OpenTransport. MacOS 7.5.x and older will be supporting MacTCP and is recommended to upgrade MacOS to support OpenTransport. Instructions and documentation to upgrade to a newer software packages with Apple can be located at http://www.apple.com/.

Items needed to complete setup

  • WINCOM's gateway address: 209.216.128.1
  • WINCOM's name server addresses: 209.216.129.2 and 209.216.129.4
  • WINCOM's domain name: wincom.net

To begin...

  • Click on Apple Menu. (located in top left)
  • Click on Control Panel.
  • Click on MacTCP.

  • Click on PPP to highlight it.
  • Click on More

  • Click on Manually in Obtain Address section, this allows to change the gateway.
  • Fill in 209.216.128.1 as the Gateway Address
  • Fill in wincom.net for the first domain and next to it fill in 209.216.129.2 for its IP
  • Repeat previous step for the second line but use 209.216.129.4 for the IP. And remove any extra information that doesn't match screen shot.
  • Click on the circle for Default on the first domain name server listing
  • Click on OK to save changes and exit that screen.
  • Close the MacTCP window and restart the computer if prompted
