Modems
When using MacOS 7.6.x or higher you'll be working with the Modems control Panel. Apple did a good job at this OpenTransport Modems interface for quick setup.
Items needed to complete setup
- Knowledge of the Make and Model of your modem.
- Knowledge of your telephone services. (ie. call answer)
To begin...
- Click on Apple Menu. (located in top left)
- Click on Control Panel.
- Click on Modems.

- Select the Double Arrows for Connect via and choose Modem Port
.
- Select the Double Arrows for Modem and choose your modem (ie. for iMacs, Internal 56k)
- Choose a Sound suitable to your needs.
- Choose a Dialing suitable to your phone line.
- Enabling Ignore dial tone is a work-a-round for by-passing Call Answer (VoiceMail) services intermittent dial tone.
