Advanced

  • Internet Connection Firewall (ICF)
    • In most cases it is safe to turn off the ICF. Do not confuse ICF with Antivirus software. ICF cannot stop trojans, viruses, and worms from getting on your computer. ICF interfeer with other Internet software, possibly make them not responcive on the net.
  • Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
    • This allows you to share your Internet connection to other computers in your home/office network just like an Internet Router/Gateway. It is recommended to have two (2) Network Interface Cards (NIC) to support this properly. The USB DSL modems that we supply can be considered as a NIC.
    • It is also good to have Establish a dial-up connection whenever ... turned on when you have ICS turned on also. Otherwise the computer that is sharing the connection will not connect on demand.
    • The Allow other network users to control the connection is a personal preference, recommended to be turned off.
