WS_FTP LE 5.X.

WS_FTP has gone a long way to perfect their FTP client. These series of steps will get you started in using WS_FTP to post your files/WebPages to the WINCOM server. You can find WS_FTP at their official web site http://www.wsftp.com/ or at CNet's Download.com.

Setting up WS_FTP 5 LE:

Once in WS_FTP 5 LE you might be given a Session Properties screen. If not in the bottom left you'll have a Connect button, clicking that would produce the session properties screen. Normally you'll be placed in the General tab on the top, clicking on New will clear the fields and you'll be able to filling the blanks.

Profile name: WINCOM (name of choice)
Host Name/Address: ftp.wincom.net
Host Type: Auto
User ID: (your WINCOM dialup username)
Password: (the password to the username)

*Optional*
After you have entered that in, for convenience click into the Startup tab on the top. If you don't fill in the optional settings once connected you'll have to double click on the public_html folder so that you can upload inside there.

*Problem Resolution*
The Advanced tab on the top has a feature of Passive Mode, this should be disabled if you're having problems of sending files to WINCOM.

Initial Remote Site Folder: /public_html/

After you have filled in the required fields clicking on OK in the Session Properties will attempt to connect to our FTP server. If you have problems connecting double check all of the previous steps to make sure you have no errors in typing. If that didn't seem to resolve the problem, please contact us (in the menu on the left) with the exact error message that was provided by WS_FTP.
Now if you had no trouble connecting and your screen looks similar to the following figure here's a brief run though of how to use WS FTP.

The layout of WS_FTP LE is quite simple. Everything in the left is all the files in your computer and on the right is (when connected) your website files that are on our system. For sending files from/to WINCOM's FTP server you can use the arrows to transfer files to that direction. So if you're uploading to us then selecting your web documents on the left and hit the button in the middle directing to the right should send off your webpage to WINCOM's webserver and vise-versa.

In the lower third of WS_FTP LE's screen is the log window, it displays the exact stuff that goes on when you're working with an FTP server. There's a button on the bottom called LogWnd clicking on that would produce a separate window allowing you to backtrack and locate exact commands and responses from your session. If you have problems with sending or recieving via FTP, WINCOM's tech staff would request the session log just to find out the best to assist you.
