CHAMBER
WELCOMES GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR
On
April 16, 2004 the Chamber issued a Media Release supporting the
establishment of the $500 million fund by the Ontario government
to strengthen the Automotive Industry. The Chamber sees the
announcement as a positive step that will provide more
investment in this critical sector for our local economy. The
Chamber welcomed the initiative as a good strategy to increase
the competitiveness of our automotive sector.

DIALOGUE WITH THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER THE HONOURABLE ANNE McLELLAN,
ROUND TABLES IN EDMONTON AND CALGARY
The
Canadian Chamber of Commerce released a report prepared after two business leader roundtables held in Edmonton on March 15 and Calgary
on March 19 with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Safety
and Emergency Preparedness, Anne McLellan. This report provides a useful
summary of the Chambers' discussions and some meaningful recommendations
for government action. Among the issues discussed were Meeting the
Needs of Municipalities, Labour and Skills, Fiscal Policy and Health
Care.
