FAIRNESS IN CONFEDERATION: LEADERSHIP REQUIRES COMMITMENT

TORONTO – The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) today issued a pledge to federal party leaders, calling for a commitment to study the fiscal imbalance, and encourage the federal auditor general to conduct a performance audit on the federal transfer programs.

The pledge, issued to all federal party leaders yesterday, promises support for new research and study into the fiscal imbalance between what Ottawa collects from the provinces and what it returns in services. It also commits the signatories to examine the effectiveness of federal programs in terms of helping the “have-not” provinces expand their economies. Click Here for a full media release.
