 CHAMBER NEWS

EXTENDING DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME - ONTARIO CHAMBER CALLS FOR URGENT BUSINESS SURVEY

Please take a few moments to complete the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Daylight Savings Time Survey by using the following link:

http://www.occ.on.ca/cgi-bin/2_2005DSTSurvey/index.asp

The US Congress is considering extending daylight savings time in an energy bill that is expected to pass shortly. If passed, daylight savings time would be extended by two months – it would start a month earlier and go a month longer than now, stretching daylight savings time from the first weekend of March to the end of November – meaning there would be more daylight later in the day.

The change, due to take effect this autumn if approved by US President George W. Bush, could affect Canadians during March and November, the two months the two countries would be out of sync.

As pressure is building in Canada to follow the US lead, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce is conducting this brief survey to gauge the opinions of its members on this issue. Please complete this survey prior to its ending date on Tuesday, July 26 at 5:00pm.
