Marsh was sworn in as the new Chair-Elect along with the new elected Members of the Board. Michael Robinson becomes the Past Chair. The Ceremony was followed by the meeting of the new Board of Directors. Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Mr. Komsa first
experienced living in the Windsor community during his years at the
University of Windsor where he obtained his Honours Degree in Business
Administration. In 1986 Mr. Komsa officially made Windsor and Essex
County his home, where he resides with his wife Janis and sons Matthew,
Christian and Nathan. He
has grasped a hold of the community spirit our region exhibits and has
given back continuously through his commitment to the community. In addition to his role as Chair of the Windsor and District
Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Komsa donates his time to numerous
organizations including, the University of Windsor Board of Governors,
the Windsor Port Authority Board of Directors, the Windsor Regional
Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and many other worthwhile
charitable and community based organizations. From the days of helping his parents run a convenience store
in Sault Ste. Marie, Mr. Komsa has been engraved with understanding what
it takes to run a successful business, the needs of a customer and the
importance of service. Mr.
Komsa is well versed in the business field and has carried these values
through his career and instilled them in the operations of his other
task, that of President and Chief Executive Officer of Windsor Family
Credit Union. “Windsor Family Credit Union’s top priority is to serve
their members. This
priority is the same for the Chamber.
I have committed to bring this philosophy to the Chamber to
ensure that when policies and positions are established, they are done
so in the best interest of the membership – the business community,”
says Komsa. Mr. Komsa brings to the position the human side of business,
without forgetting the operational needs that are imperative to the job.
These values will be instrumental in leading the Windsor and District
Chamber of Commerce, an organization that represents the overall views
of the business community. Under the leadership of Past Chair Michael Robinson, the
Chamber finalized a vision of “Leading the business community for
creating regional economic prosperity”.
Mr. Komsa is committed to ensuring that this vision is upheld and
that the Chamber membership is fairly represented at local, provincial
and national levels of government in order that the concerns and needs
of local business are met and that the opportunity to operate in an
entrepreneurial environment exists.
He will also continue to increase the participation of the
Chamber membership at sponsored events and to expand the topical
subjects that are of interest to the members. The Chamber is a resource to the business community and needs
to be looked upon to provide a forum for education on popular issues
affecting the business community. “I am honoured to accept this position. I never realized that in the 17 years I have been a member of this community that my contributions would be recognized in such a way as to become Chair of the Windsor and District Chamber of Commerce. This is a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to working with a dedicated Board of Directors, President and staff at the Chamber to further serve the Chamber membership,” says Komsa.
