ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
CELEBRATING 125 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY
Nancy
Hughes Anthony,
who joined the 170,000-member Canadian Chamber of Commerce as President
and CEO in September 1998, will be making a much-anticipated visit to
Windsor to serve as keynote speaker at the Chamber’s 125th
Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 17, 2001.
As
President and CEO, Ms. Hughes Anthony is the principal spokesperson
advocating the policy positions of the Canadian Chamber’s members to the
federal government, international organizations, the media and the general
public.
At
our event, she will provide attendees with an overview of the Canadian
Chamber’s role and relationship with local Chambers, touch on the policy
setting process, perhaps covering some of the submissions discussed at the
Canadian Chamber’s AGM being held this month in Winnipeg, and provide
our Chamber with advice on what we can do on behalf of our membership in
terms of lobbying government and tips on how to do it successfully.
Prior
to her arrival at the Chamber, Ms. Hughes Anthony gained senior experience
in the federal and provincial governments as well as the private sector,
having served as a federal deputy minister, a senior advisor to the
government of Prince Edward Island and, most recently, as a corporate
vice-president.
She
is currently the Business Co-Chair of the Canadian Business and Labour
Centre, is a Vice-Chair of the World Chambers Federation, a member
of the Board of Governors of Carleton University and a Governor of
the Council for Canadian Unity.
In
March 2000, and again in March 2001, the National
Post deemed Ms. Hughes Anthony as one of the Top
50 Most Influential Business
Women in Canada.
The
flyer with registration form for the Chamber’s AGM, being held on
October 17 at the Caboto Club, is included with this mailing. Please plan
to join your Board and Chamber colleagues in welcoming Ms. Hughes Anthony
to Windsor.
