BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES FROM CHANGCHUN, CHINA

The City of Windsor’s International Relations Committee (IRC) has received a very exciting invitation from Changchun, China that will be of major interest to our business community.  The Changchun government is seeking partnerships with the international business community to assist them with 100 potential development projects.  The projects are extremely diverse in nature and include everything from automobiles, auto fittings and parts, urban infrastructures, public utilities, market construction, optoelectronics and information technology, biological pharmaceutics and agriculture.

The City of Changchun has a population of over 7 million people and its government is very committed to ensuring Changchun’s short and long-term economic growth and development.  Last year China joined the World Trade Organization to confirm their level of commitment and cooperation with the international business community.

Changchun’s economic development team has produced an information kit entitled – Changchun China Market Invitation for Potential Projects, where 100 projects are outlined including project details, total investment, foreign investment, construction requirements, estimated economic benefits and rate of investment, project status and more.

As a result of political exchanges that have occurred over the past several years and the hard work of the Essex-Windsor Chinese Association, the two cities have developed a mutual and lasting friendship, as well as a deep respect for each other.  The cultural exchange projects including the “Ribbons of Friendship” sculpture located at The Art Gallery of Windsor and now the invitation to participate in foreign business opportunities are great examples of IRC’s work.

“Changchun has made an extra effort to inform our city’s business community of this unique business opportunity.  Thanks to IRC’s continuing work to develop international friendships, our city will continue to benefit both culturally and economically,” said Councillor Eddie Francis, Chair IRC.
