THE
CHAMBER RECOMMENDS PHASE-IN PERIOD FOR NEW DEVELOPMENT CHARGES
Speaking
on behalf of the Chamber at City Council, Monday, August 30th, 2004,
Shakti Wadehra, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors presented the
Chamber's position on development charges. He stated that, "t he Windsor & District Chamber of Commerce
is not opposed
to an increase in development charges but recommends a phase-in
period to lessen any potential impact on the local housing industry."
He stressed the need
for greater accountability and the use of lower development charges as
an incentive for new growth in the City.
