Michigan Merry Mini Mee # 4

Coldwater MI, Oct 11 - 13 2002

Thursday Oct 10, 2002

Maggie V was the first to arrive on Thursday morning the 10th of Oct. After Karen and her spent the morning doing errands they went to the hotel to get their room and the conference room. As they were leaving they saw Evelyn S arrive.. and told her they would be back after 9:30 (Karen had to go bowling and Maggiewas supporting her).

Where do we start to unpack?

When Maggie got back, Evelyn joined her in the conference room and they set up the computer, some other things.. then talked for a while. After agreeing to meet at 7:30 for Breakfast they headed off to their rooms.

Friday Oct 11, 2002

Maggie woke up, and went downstairs to meet Evelyn at 7:30.. but Evelyn did not show up.. and then the TV said.. it is 6:39 am. Someone has set the clock in Maggie's room 1 hour earlier.. so she waited and read. Finally at 7:30 Evelyn showed up .. right on time. After a while Karen came and Maggie and her headed up to the conference room to make a list of what had to still be done.. then it was off to the races.. to see if they could get everything done and be back before everyone got there at 4PM.

We made it! Or so we thought when we arrived back at the hotel with an hour to spare. But when we reached the Conference room the PALS were there, well most of them were. We talked about a change of the schedule and asked them if it was okay. It was and we contacted those that were not there yet.. and they said they would be there by 4:30. When everyone arrived, it was back to the van and car and off we went.

After an hours drive we arrived in Kalamazoo and at the Stamp in Time shop.. ohhh such a big shop.. with lots of goodies to buy. The lowest spender... spent NOTHING.. can you believe that! The highest spender.. spent over $100 dollars. Now THAT is more like it! A quick zip around the corner and it was supper at Old Country Buffet.... lots of talking and laughter and eating.. and it was off to Micheals. As most were coming out to the vehicals after the shopping.. there was a display of fireworks just down the street as there was a homecoming game. Back at the Hotel at 10pm we did some swaping, comparing and show and tells, then it was off to bed for rest before a busy day of Make and Takes.

Evelyn showed us how to make a PARTY in a very short time. She made place mats out of large white envelops with a design on it, on this she put a stand up snowman, a snowman in a resses peanut butter cup, a name place card. she gave us a bookmarker.. and told us to fold it at certain points and it made a cover for a bag of candies. Also we made snowman sticks to put into a flower vase or cake. She also showed us how to make tiny earings for a gift. Once everything was out infront of us, we were all set for a Party.

Karen's mom and dad came over, with a big macaroni salad she had made for us. The rest of the lunch items were put out and we had a feast. Durning the morning and afternoon, names were picked and doorprizes were given out.. there was one for each person.

After lunch, Karen started us with an Eyelet Make and take. WOW she had a great project for us.. a card.. with HO HO HO on the front.. the O's were ornaments.. and we had to eyelet them on to the card. when the ornaments moved it said under it Have a Merry Christmas.. it is SO CUTE!! At this time w had a special pulling of names for 3 special door prizes. First name pulled.... EVEYONE... they all got a 5" X 5" acrylic plate for pounding on. These were donated by Harmon Autoglass of Coldwater MI... the second name pulled was Maggie.. but she threw that name out.. and Tina's was pulled.. she won a hammer for pounding the eyelets. The 3rd name pulled was Annette and she one a pair of Cutter Bee scissors.

Once we had our pounding done Maggie took over and showed the gals how she does her 3D pins. Everyone made a girl pin for Christmas. The dress and hat are a 2nd layer and the stocking is a 3rd layer.

Finished at 3:30 we headed off to Memory Pages where they were waiting for us. In their new store their was much more room to move around and lots more goodies to buy. Eyelets were sold out as everyone enjoyed it so much.. they just HAD to get some. Little did the gals know that the lady behind the cash register was decideding on who had the best name tag.

Heading off for supper at the China One Grand Buffet.. some made a quick trip to the Dollar Store before coming in and having dinner. Lots of laughter was had here at the restraunt as Kit was hit upon by the waiter, who everytime I took a sip of my pop would say"Diet Coke?" and whish off to fill it up. The lady checking out the name tags said they were all great and she had a hard time choosing.. Barb had a great tree all decorated up and she was almost picked.. . but in the end The Name Tag door prize was given to Evelyn with her snowman. The prize was a box of Eyelets.

Back at the Conference room we did the make and take that we had missed out on .. on friday night by going shoping.. PAPER MAKING.. it was messing and took a while.. but we made it.. plain paper, coloured paper, and paper with confetti or spices in it.

Barb, Connie, Barb, Tina, Evelyn and Maggie (sitting)

Those that did not do the paper making had some free time to finish up any projects that they had not finished earlier. Karen got excited and wanted to do her Demo tonight instead of in the morning.. so.. "okay show us" we said.. and she did.. Karen had made up a great Stationary pkg to show us how to put one together for a great gift. In a clear full size envelop Karen had full size letter head paper and long envelops, 1/2 page size note pad, 6 note cards and envelopes, a sheet of name tags. Everyone loved it.

Off to bed for rest, for tomorrow there was still one more Make and Take and a Demo to be done. Barb and Maggie stay in the conference room till the wee hours.. before heading off to bed.

Sunday Oct 13, 2002

Morning brought a bright sunny day.. and breakfast at 7:30.. again.. then meet up in the conference room at 9. Maggie showed the gals how to do hot embossing.. using not only the embossing stamp pad and rubber stamps.. but embossing pens, and all kinds of glue.. she showed them how they could use coloured inks with clear embossing powders to bring out the colours of the ink.. or use the clear embossing pad and coloured embossing powders. She also showed how you can mix.. by stamping part of the rubber stamp then drawing in the rest.. using different embossing powders on each. Also in her demo.. she showed the use of Puff up poweders and Fun Flock.

Maggie's Card. The rubber stamp was embossed with clear embossing ink on the body and head only of the snowman stamp, then winter white embossing powder was used. With a clear embossing pen the scarf and hat was drawn in and red and forest green embossing powder was used, one at a time. The finished card also has Whie Fun Flock put on it at the bottom of the snowman.

When the Hot Embossing was finished we had one more Demo.. The Santa Pkg. Maggie had made up this package showing the gals how to put one together. In a full size clear envelope there was a laminated address full sheet size, on the back was a personalized letter from Santa, Decoration booklet, colouring book, construction paper booklet, doorknob sign for childs room, santa key and note for santa, magnet with santas favorite milkshake recipe, also instructions on what else could be added for little cost. Both the Santa Pkg and the Stationary Pkg was given as Door Prizes, Pam (who was not there but had paid up) won the Stationary Pkg and Barb won the Santa Pkg.

Lunch was put out once again.. and after our meal we started to pack up and by 2:30 pm Karen and I were back at her house once again. Monday about 10 am I headed home.
