New York Mini Meet

Grace and I started out at 7am from Windsor, Ontario and headed down the 401 highway towards toronto, about 9 am we stopped for a good breakfast and then headed back down the highway, so to turn onto the the 403 towards Niagra Falls and then hit the Queen Elisabeth highway to the Bridge to the U.S.A at noon..

At 1 we stopped at a rest stop on Interstate 80 and had lunch and a walk about. Then off we were again.    We had estimated that we would be at Jill's house about 4 pm but even though we had to stop once for directions we arrived at 3pm.. what a drive!

We were greated with open arms and ushered in and to our room.. what a room..it was huge.. had a queen size bed, bathroom right out side the door and a hallway that lead to either the pool or the kitchen.. what more could we ask for...    More PALs of course

And soon they were there, and we started yaking and laughing and then it was time to share our swap items..

this next part is taken from Doris' email report

The swaps were wonderful, and some of the theming was based on my and Gil's 35th wedding anniversary (which we celebrated with PALs).    Teresita made us each a wonderful card that had several panels on it..trust her to find something very different. She also made two different pins...I'll let someone who actually knows what they are talking about tell you how they were made. She explained it, and those who stamp "got" it..but I was left in the dust.    I did get the recycled wood part, and can't wait to get some of that!    Maggie V made some wonderful note pads with sticky notes that go on the fridge.    I finally got to see the notepads done with the CD cases..Marty made them for her swap.    You can never, in my house have enough notepads. Grace (Maggie's friend and pal) did some coasters, with a really clever play on Minnie's Mouse pad words..sooo cute.    Marilyn made each of us some cookies in a jar (Dreamcycles), and also
made a tag that played on our anniversary..nicely done!   I did some scratch off tags (OK, so I was the least of the creative ones!).    Jill did a great gel candle for us.. non scented so that those of us with allergys could still use it.

and here are some pics of them.

Soon it was time for bed .... and before we knew it .. it was Morning..

Finally after breakfast was made and everything cleaned up we sat in the dinning room and started to demo and do.. Lunch was served outside.. and while everyone ate, Maggie lounged in the cold cold pool.    She was dried off by the time to go in fro more crafting.    Grace took a swim at Supper time.. before an evening of crafting.    The Canadians went for a midnight swim too.

The husbands, Gil, Mike and Paul did some great BBQing for us and we had a terrific meal. They also did all the moving of any heavy objects for us.. and were just great.. THANK YOU. We talked into the night and then when most went to bed Jill and Maggie sat up using Doris die cutter untill the wee hours. great items there..

Even the dishes got done.... eventually

On Sunday morning.. we all took our time getting up, packing and having a good breakfast.

Group pictures were taken. Hugs were given and good byes were said and we headed out to the road again.

The trip home took much longer as we made side trips to Walmart and then when we to to Niagra Falls we drove by taking a couple of photos from the card

We (I) also got lost.. well not really lost.. just with the sun in my eyes.. ended up going east when i wanted to go west and almost ended back up in New York. We ony lost about 40 minutes of driving, and instead of meeting a friend for dinner we stopped on our own to eat.

We also made a night stop in Kitchener Ontario as it was still another 3 hours home and we were tired.     Monday morning we had a hardy breakfast and left about 10am... at 1pm we were safe and sound at home.

Thank you Jill for your great hospitality and for hosting this New York Mini Meet
