July 18th: 4:30 pm Maggie (MaggyV) and Joe set out for Waterloo Ontariio, THE TRIP had started. Three hours later they pulled into the drive way of James (MrWrite) and Ellen's home, a sigh of relief was heard as James came out of the house and greeted us. It soon was replaces with a gaping mouth as he looked into the trunk, which was packed full and spilled over into the back seat of the Island Blue Intrepid that had been rented for THE TRIP. "Hey, where are we going to put OUR stuff" he wondered. "Don't worry!" Maggie assured him, "there is plenty of room." Three house later after unpacking, packing, unpacking and repacking the trunnk again and again... sure enough... everything fit in... BUT DON'T ANYONE DARE SNEEZE!
July 19th: The next morning bright and early, almost before the sun was
up,
and after a very brief sleep, James and Ellen shoehorned themselves into
the back seat and with Maggie settled in to the passenger seat, Joe got behind
the wheel and head out. Soon Toronto and Kingston was behind them and they
were crossing the ST. Lawrence at Gananoque and through the Thousand Islands.
Once in New York they head south to Watertown and then east on #3 where
in Osmegatchie River, on a cool breezy day they stoped atop of a hill and
ate lunch. With a beautiful view of the river across the street
they ate their picinic lunch and were soon on their way again.
After crossing
Lake Champlain and traveling the dark damp mountains of Vermont we crossed
over
into New Hampshire and stopped at the first hotel we came to, in Lancaster.
It was perfect, two rooms, restaught next door, and 30 minutes till
closing at 9:00pm. After a quick unpacking of the overnight bags we
headded off for a hot supper.
July 20th: Morning showers over and breakfast done, the four of us packed up and drove off towards the state of Maine, excitement in the air had our adreniline flowing fast. Today we would not only meet with 5 IRCers from #Wolfspirit that James and Maggie frequent as LoboRojo and Coyette, but we would also be reaching Doug and Mary's house (Doogey and Stardust) and we would be meeting not only them but Justin and Tressa, but also Jim (Heurka/zoster) and Kay, Robert (Big Daddy) and Beth (Momma). At 11:00 after a stop for some shopping at WalMart we arrived in Waterville Maine. At the appoiinted restraunt we meet up with 3 IRC friends and procceeded to a park for a picinic lunch. After lunch we headed off with our new found friend to Bangor where we teamed up with two more. At 4:30pm we started to say our goodbyes and finally with a yell of "NET SPLIT" from James we headed off for New Brunswick and the meeting with the first Capers.
With a quick stop
at a look out point we took one last look at the mountains through which
we had just traveled.. and headed off into CANADA.
Look out Doogey and Stardust here we come. We arrived much later
than we thought but Gramps (Jim) had stayed up and came to met us in town
and take us up to Doug and Marys. After a short visit there, we headed
up the Jim and Kay's where James and Ellen unpacked their stuff and Joe and
Maggie then headed back to Doug and Marys. After a few hours of yaking
and getting to know one another again.. this time in REAL LIFE we all headed
off to bed. It had been a long long trip for us.. and Doug had to get
up early and head off to work.
