Red Hat Chicago Trip
Sep 30th to Oct 2nd 2006 |
Chris and Maggie were at Roseland Golf Course by 6:30am to board the bus to Chicago with the QT Pies. Her Mother Marg Jobin and friend Millie Blyth were joining the Red Hats for the Weekend Jaunt. Joni and a few others arrived with the bus and we all boarded and were soon on our way. Over the border and on to I94 and we were all in high spirits. Raffle tickets were sold and then the fun began as names were called out and the Red Hat Gals came to get there prizes, they ranged from Hats, Gloves, Bib Ties to Jewelry, Purses, Pens and Papers. We stopped at a Cracker Barrel for lunch and they were great at getting us in and out. We were behind schedule a bit so we went right to Navy Pier to catch our dinner boat The Mystic. It was a L O N G walk from the bus to the boat but we all made it. The meal was delicious and so was the fun afterwards. Gals up dancing .. roped (Boa ed) the crew into dancing with them, including the DJ. After our 2 hour cruise we arrived back in time for another L O N G walk back to the bus and then on to the Hotel. Although we did have game time in the lobby schedule, I do believe we all hit our beds instead.

Sunday morning started out with a Pajama Breakfast with the Red Hat Gals all dressed in Red and Purple Night Wear.. What a Sight to see. Red night hats of all description, Red night gowns, Red PJ's, Red night Shirts and even a white one piece outfit decked in red and purple. It was so much fun. Later Chris and Maggie decided to have an easy day and rested up for a busy night. They stayed at the hotel, swimming and getting on the computer and ordering lunch in. Others went off to a Flea Market, shopping uptown and tour of Chicago. Meeting in the lobby before boarding the bus for supper, many pictures were taken of the Red Hat Ladies all dressed up and ready for a night on the town. We went off to Gionavanies and on the way realize some were left behind.. so we waited for them at a bus depot while they took a cab to catch up with us. At the restaurant drinks and salads were brought to the tables in the back room which we filled. Then we were served different Pizzas that were to die for. MMmmmmm Mmmmmmm Good. After dinner we were off to the Theater to see "Sheer Madness" a audience involved play.. that was just fantastic and so much fun. A murder was committed above the Beauty Shop where the play was taken place while we watched.. and then we were all asked to help solve the murder. If you get a chance to see this.. GO.. you will not regret it.

Monday morning and another Pajama Breakfast with the Red Hat Gals all dressed in Red and Purple Night Wear..AGAIN. Once again we boarded the bus and headed out.. this time to the warehouse district where a Chicago Red Had Queen told us to go and get some great deals. Purses, Hats, Jewelry and lots of BLING BLING were found and bought and many happy faces reboarded the bus again. Now the bus headed out of Chicago and back on to I94 and headed back towards Detroit and home. Once again we found a Cracker Barrel and stopped for a delicious lunch. Raffle tickets were sold and prices given out again. When Marg Jobin won.. I (Maggie) asked her "Hey MOM... pick my ticket" and like a good Mother.. she did.. when she won a second prize.. Joni held it back until she made sure Marg had not pick my ticket again... Marg wanted that prize so she picked someone else. Everyone won at least one prize and so much fun was had. After a quick stop at the Duty Free Shop we soon arrived at the Canadian Customs.. the young officer that came on board found himself facing down 54 Red Hat Ladies and after doing his duty, he let us all go and we soon arrived back at Roseland Golf Course were we got into our own vehicles and finished our journey home. Thanks Joni for organizing such a great weekend. I had the time of my life and will travel with you any time.
