GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE

MEET THE INBOUND GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE (GSE) TEAM FROM SAO PAULO, BRAZIL

The inbound Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from District 4420 arrived in District 6400 on Friday, April 4th. They were in District 6400 for a month and were present at our District Conference in Traverse City. They returned home on Tuesday, May 6th.

The Team Leader was Marcelo Vallejo Marsaioli, a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Santos, SP. He became a member in 2001 and has been active in the international aspects of Rotary such as Youth Exchange, Group Study Exchange and The Rotary Foundation. He has been their club's Youth Exchange Officer for the past two years and as a high school student participated in a long-term exchange to Brussels, Belgium in 1992. He is a lawyer, completing his law degree in 1997 at the Catholic University of Santos with a specialization in legal and social sciences. His undergraduate degree is a major in English from Catholic University of Santos. Prior to completing his law degree, he taught English and French. He is a swimmer since age 5, loves to read and watch soccer games.

There were four team members composed of three men and one woman.

Osvaldo Murad, Jr is 35 years old, married and has one daughter and lives in the city of Sao Paulo. He has an undergraduate degree is Mechanical Engineering at Bras Cubas University and is working on his master's degree in Business Administration. He has been employed at Volkswagen do Brazil since 1990 and is currently an Industrial Installation Engineer. He has traveled extensively in the USA to California, Florida, South Carolina, Oregon, Nevada and Georgia. He enjoys meeting new friends and listening to music. He is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sao Paulo Novas Geracoes.

Daniella Castro Revoredo is 34 years old, single and lives in Santos, SP. She has an executive secretary degree from AELIS University and a Law Degree with a specialization in arbitration and international law from Santa Cecilia University in Santos, SP. She has studied at The Hague Academy of International Law - The International Court of Justice which is the judicial arms of the United Nations. During her high school career, she was an exchange student in Denver, Colorado. She enjoys swimming, trekking and traveling. She is sponsored by Rotary Club of Sao Vicente

Luis Claudio Novaes de Siquira is 34 years old, married with a 5 year-old son, and lives in Boqueirao - Praia Grande, SP. He has a law degree from Mackenzie University in Sao Paulo. He is employed as a police officer in the State of Sao Paulo. He likes sports, going to the movies, travelin and reading. He's sponsored by Rotary Club of Praia Grande- Tupy.

Jefferson Gomes Aliseda is 40 years old, married, and has two adopted daughters, ages 1 and 3 and lives in Praia Grande, SP. He has a metallurgical technician degree and is working on a degree in mechanical engineering. He is a technical buyer at Companhia Siderurgica Paulista (COSIPA), a large steel mill, and also a technical design teacher at Servico Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial, a professional school. He and his spouse are active in the Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school and work as volunteers with orphan children. His leisure interests include camping, trekking, kayaking, sailboats and amateur naval construction.

Saturday April 5th
10:00 a.m. Brunch and Orientation
12:00 p.m. District Reception at Renaissance Hotel for Inbound Team and all Host Families
1:30 p.m. Transfer to Detroit East Area Host Families
2:00 p.m. Team to reassemble at Edsel Ford House for tour. Host families to return home with luggage
3:00-4:00 p.m. Team returned to Host Families by Area Committee Evening Supper with Host Families

Sunday, April 6th
11:00 a.m. Brunch at Bayview Yacht Club for Team and Host Families
1:00-1:30 p.m. Visit Detroit Science Center and tour of Titanic Exhibit (Host-Bob Bury).
Area Committee will bring Team to Detroit Science Center and return them to Host Families at the conclusion of the visit Evening Supper with Host Families

Monday, April 7th
Breakfast With Host Families Vocational Visits Assignments TBA - Casual Dress
6:00 p.m. Picnic Supper at Farms Pier as guests of Grosse Pointe Rotary and Grosse Pointe Sunrise Rotary, Host Families invited and Team will present program - Dress GSE Uniforms

Tuesday, April 8th
Breakfast With Host Families
9:30 a.m. Tour of Focus Hope - Casual Dress Team will be taken by Area Committee to Bridge Room of Focus Hope.
Hosts will be Valera Montgomery or Tom Armistead Lunch Roma CafÚ as guests of Detroit Rotary/Don Alles, who will provide transportation to lunch and for the afternoon and transfer Afternoon Tour of WJR Radio
4:00 p.m. Transfer to Down River Area Host Families at the home of Larry Garner (10820 Andrews in Allen Park) Host families pick up Team Members and luggage Wednesday,

9:30 a.m. Trip to Henry Ford Museum and Imax Theater
12:00 p.m. Lunch at Museum
4:30 p.m. Host Families to deliver and pick up Team Members at Imax Parking Lot
6:30 p.m. Joint Rotary Meeting at the Taylor Club at the Lakes of Taylor on Northline Road-Team to present program-Dress GSE Uniforms Friday,

April 11th Rest day with Host Families

1:30 p.m. Deliver Team Members and Luggage to Don & Pat Kush's home (12810 Sherry Lane Southgate, Off of Northline, West of Dix (734-285-7310) to transfer to Monroe Area\
