Literacy and Education Task Force
The
Literacy and Education Task Force will provide information
and support for Rotary Clubs and districts to encourage
participation in programs and projects that promote universal
literacy and educational opportunities for all. Emphasis
will be given to identifying resources to assist Rotarians
in developing and implementing project and activities that
provide:

Literacy training for children and adults, especially
for women
*
Mentoring for young people
*
Support for community schools
*
Educational opportunities for individuals with low
economic resources
*
Vocational training or mentoring for prison inmates
2003-2004
Poverty Alleviation Task Force
The
Poverty Alleviation Task Force will provide information
and support for Rotary clubs and districts in efforts to
alleviate poverty in their communities and around the world.
Special emphasis will be encouraging and assisting Rotarians
to develop projects and activities to:

Develop and implement Micro credit or revolving loan
programs
*
Support vocational training and education, especially
for women
*
Provide training and tools to improve farming methods
*
Provide food for the hungry and water for the thirsty
*
Provide clothes for those who wear rags
*
Provide shelter for the homeless
*
Promote hands-on volunteer activities

Health Concerns Task Force
The
Health Concerns Task Force will provide information and
support for Rotary clubs and districts in efforts to address
health concerns in their communities and around the world.
Special emphasis will be encouraging and assisting Rotarians
to develop projects and activities to address the following
health issues:

Pre-natal care and parenting
*
Blindness prevention
*
Reproductive health and AIDS Awareness
*
Primary health care issues
*
Immunization of children
*
Nutrition
*
Water treatment and water management
*
Environment
*
Global polio eradication
2003-2004
Family of Rotary Task Force
The
Family of Rotary Task Force will provide information and
support for Rotary clubs and districts in efforts to pursue
the first Object of Rotary, that is “to encourage
and foster the development of acquaintance as an opportunity
for service.” Friendship was the foundation, the rock
on which Rotary service was built. The Family of Rotary
Task Force will encourage clubs to care for Rotarians and
members of Rotary’s extend family (spouses and children)
and remember spouses of deceased Rotarians. Special emphasis
will be supporting clubs and districts in forming Family
of Rotary committees to:

Visit sick Rotarians in their homes and ensure any
needs are mete
*
Inquire after those who have missed meetings or allowed
their membership to lapse
*
Promote membership retention
*
Promote diversity of membership in clubs
*
Encourage newer Rotarians to serve on a committee
or spearhead a club project
*
Encourage spouses and children of Rotarians to participate
in service projects
*
Encourage spouses and adult children of Rotarians
to join Rotary
*
Maintain relationships with the family of deceased
Rotarians and spouses
*
Support the family of deceased Rotarians in their
time of need
*
Encourage the family of deceased Rotarians to continue
their involvement with Rotary
